An Almost White Christmas

I have lived in North Carolina since 1984, and there has never even been a close chance for a white Christmas, so you can imagine how excited my family and I were when we recieved news of the possibility this year.  We sat around the news channel for days and watched the progression of the storm coming from the west in hopes it would beat Santa to the Southeast.  However, as Christmas came and went, our outside environment stayed as dry as ever, that was until the next day.  The day after Christmas we were treated to a winter wonderland that we have not seen in years.  Since this is probably my only chance to have BOTH
Christmas decorations and snow at the same time I could not resist the temptation to take hundreds of pictures to memorialize this unique occasion.
This is how our home looked when we woke up
A blanket of snow covered the entire area.
As it got closer to night fall.
Still very pretty.
A closer look.
I love the way the snow has collected on the wreaths.
A nighttime picture.
As the snow was still coming down.
Even my dog seemed a little surprised.
I was so deep at some points she had to jump to get to where she wanted to go.

An idea of how deep it was.

From my back porch.

A picture from my backyard.

My beloved swing where I spend my spring and summer days swinging and praying and meditating.  I think I will have to find a new location for a while.  I hope you enjoyed our rare snow covered day in the south.

Wow!! I never thought I'd see your house and backyard look like that! It's very beautiful and picturesque! Love the pics!
Thanks for stopping by my blog!

What a wonderful surprise for you :) I grew up in Idaho and had my first "green" Christmas three years ago after we moved to California. Christmas just isn't the same without snow!
