San Francisco and Alcatraz
This trip was really a business trip for my husband but we just couldn't pass up the opportunity to do a little sight seeing from a region of the country we have never been before. We left a couple of days early and went to San Francisco. What a wonderful city. I immediatly fell in love with it. Now Tony Bennett's song makes sense to me. In a way, I think I left my heart in San Francisco too.
A sample of some of the architecture in the area. Some neighborhoods were breathtaking.
The beaches on the west coast are vastly different from the beaches on the east coast.
The Golden Gate Bridge seen on the way to Alcatraz. Every vista we encountered was amazing.
Alcatraz island..very creepy!
Just rows and rows of cells. A very interesting tour. I am just glad that I never called this place home.
A sample of the living space these worst of offenders had to live in. They said that "prison was for people who couldn't follow the rules of society, Alcatraz was for people who couldn't follow the rules of prison."
Crossing the golden Gate bridge on our way to Muir Woods. You might be wondering why there are not more pictures, after all we went everywhere. We visited Fishermans Wharf, Cannery row, the Presidio, The Japenese Tea Garden and on and on. It was a fantastic time, however, someone forgot to charge up the camera....oops!!
Any city that has our name carved in stone is a great city!
The city skyline.
